Since 1903, The Border Mail has been serving Albury-Wodonga and beyond, providing information, advocacy, entertainment and connection. While based in the Twin Cities, our reach extends to Wangaratta, Yarrawonga, Benalla, Corowa, Beechworth, Holbrook, Myrtleford, Henty, Corryong, Walla, Mount Beauty and Deniliquin, as well as numerous rural communities in between.
Located on the NSW-Victoria border, The Border Mail has a presence in two states, unlike most other newspapers. Variety is a hallmark of our region, with industry, agriculture, education and tourism among its many enterprises. Albury-Wodonga itself boasts award-winning retailers, engineers and builders, as well as university and TAFE campuses. There is a professional theatre, a national youth circus and a music conversatorium.
Lavington Sports Ground is just one of many quality sporting venues in the region. The Border and North East’s tourist attractions include the Alpine snow fields, North East and High Country wineries, a thriving cafe culture and all that the mighty Murray River has to offer in water sports and camping. Census data shows a growing population as more and more learn the benefits of regional life. The Border Mail doesn’t stand still. Started by brothers Hamilton and Decimus Mott as The Border Morning Mail, the daily newspaper stayed in the Mott family for more than a century before joining ACM.
The Border Mail publishes in print and digital with an immediacy the Mott brothers could not have imagined. But they would certainly recognise values instilled from the beginning – independence, accuracy and a commitment to be a voice for our community.
