The Southern Highlands is positioned half way between Sydney and Canberra on the main southern corridor. The shire is maintaining a steady population growth rate and consists of several small villages that surround the major retail centres of Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale.

Southern Highlands News has been servicing these towns since 1883. The manufacturing sector is a major employer in the area with a large annual turnover. Home of the Bradman Museum, the Tulip Festival, Historic Berrima, and breathtaking National Parks the Southern Highlands has a thriving tourism industry.

Bowral’s close proximity to both Sydney and Canberra means that many people commute to these business centres each day from the Southern Highlands.

The Southern Highland News has been the district’s biggest selling newspaper for many years. Since its first issue in 1883 the Southern Highland News has established itself as the voice of the community. While centred on the shire, the paper reaches out into the broader community.

Published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, it is the only paid newspaper in the district. Southern Highland News covers all the major local news issues and has a highly regarded Community News Section.
