Stock & Land is at the cutting edge of the Victorian agricultural industry. Through its weekly newspaper and daily website, the masthead’s dedicated team of rural journalists provide farmers with vital industry and market information that help them make important business decisions. This is something Stock & Land has been doing since its origins over 100 years ago.
The paper first hit newsstands in 1914, when it was published three times a week to coincide with the old Newmarket livestock selling days, replacing the Melbourne Stock & Station Journal, which for many years was published as a weekly newspaper to carry reports of livestock sales.
Since then, the paper has grown to cover stud, store and prime livestock sales from all corners of Victoria, now offering a truly state-wide reflection of the industry’s livestock industry. The publication also reports on the happenings of the cropping sector, its global markets, industry innovations and the practices of the state’s world-class growers.
Stock & Land also reports on the day-to-day news of the local and national industry, holds governments and industry bodies to account, covers the innovations and research that can help buoy the sector, and provides insights into the decisions being made by farmers each day throughout the year.
