The Inverell Times
First published in 1875, The Inverell Times has a proud history of award winning journalism and community service. The Inverell Times faithfully covers all local issues from hard news, to births, deaths and marriages. It is a proud recorder of history for the town and surrounding regions. The paper is published once a week and has a strong online audience covering local, regional and national news, including breaking news.
Inverell is on the Macintyre River and is known as ‘the meeting place of the swans’, and the ‘sapphire city’. High quality sapphires and other gems have been mined for many years, and fossicking still attracts many tourists to the area. The economy is very much based around agriculture including fine wool, cattle, wheat and numerous other crops.
Inverell also has a thriving commercial and service industry with a modest but constant population growth.
